JOB POSITION: PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER
SALARY : $10-$15 P/H
Under supervision performs semi-skilled labor tasks associated with park maintenance, operations, and construction programs.
- Performs unskilled or semi-skilled labor in any or all of the areas of grounds maintenance, facility or equipment maintenance and construction, including turf and irrigation maintenance, horticulture activities, minor construction, facility cleaning and trash collection.
- Performs labor tasks required in the maintenance of park facilities, including the use and operation of specialized vehicles, equipment, and power tools as needed for assigned maintenance and improvement projects.
- Operates light and heavy equipment and vehicles such as riding mower, skidsteer and tractor. Performs routine inventory, routine preventative maintenance, and cleaning of assigned vehicles, equipment and tools.
- Coordinates the activities of subordinates and/or volunteers performing related work.
- Drives County vehicles and other equipment to perform assigned duties; operates all County vehicles and equipment per County guidelines.
- Provides departmental support for special events and other activities; requires some scheduled weekend and holiday work.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- NO NEED
- Minimum one (1) -(5) year professional experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance, hand and power tools, painting, plumbing and minor electrical repairs.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments in a safe and proper manner.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with County staff and the general public.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work in all types of weather.
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, physical examination, drug screen and motor vehicle check.
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above.
Licenses/Certificates
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain prior to first day of employment.
